This toolbox session provides a step-by-step pre-start service for mobile plant and vehicles. It discusses lock-out-tag-out procedures, releasing any system pressure before any work begins and checking oil, coolant, hydraulic oil levels, gearbox oil and air filters.

Learning Outcomes:

At the completion of this course, learners will:

  1. Understand the importance of completing the lock-out, tag-out procedure before performing any pre-start service work on plant and vehicles.
  2. Learn why you need to make sure the engine is cooled down with no systems under pressure before the service is undertaken.
  3. Learn which areas to check in a plant pre-start service and how to complete the service safely.
  4. Learn how to check oil filters, coolant levels and air filters.
