Many tasks require the use of our hands and preventing them from becoming injured is critical to continued work and play.

This course discusses how to protect your hands when working in environments such as workshops, warehouses and during construction activities. The training draws on the hierarchy of controls to eliminate hazards that can cause hand injuries where you can. Where you can’t eliminate the hazard the training recommends engineering controls to isolate the hazard, administrative controls such as procedures and appropriate PPE.

The course begins with identifying the hazards associated with each job function to identify if your hands are at risk of impact, abrasion, vibration or puncture injuries. The training looks at injuries when working around moving parts as well as coming into contact with falling objects. The course finishes with a guide to selecting the correct gloves to keep your hands safe.
