This toolbox session discusses 3 common high-risk methods to move a person off the floor, for example, if they have fallen, to illustrate the risk of musculoskeletal injuries.

The course then trains one safe method carers can use when the person can assist with the move and two methods when they are unable to help get them up off the floor.

Learning Outcomes:

At the completion of this course, learners will:

  1. Learn about 3 high-risk methods that are commonly used to help a person off the floor, for example, if they have fallen.
  2. Learn about a safe method using a chair to help a person off the floor when they can assist.
  3. Learn how to use aids to assist such as an electric hoist on its own or together with a stretcher frame to help a person up off the floor.
